Years ago, we went on a vacation to the Outer Banks looking for a new adventure. As we drove down the street, a line of colorful kayaks caught our eyes, and our curiosity pulled us in. The store had an option to try out various models, and we were off. We started with the shorter ones because the salesperson said they were easiest to maneuver. As I went paddling off onto the waves with a smile on my face, I looked back to see my 6’ tall, 250 lb. husband in a boat with the back half under water, swearing and paddling furiously in an attempt to keep up with me. We eventually realized that his boat had a weight limit of 200 lbs. and was for kids. After having a good laugh, we tried them all out, and one very clearly surpassed all the rest.
